Growing up I've been blessed with spending majority of my time on Bois Blanc Island. Recently finding out that my Grandfather is battling kidney failure and denying any form of treatment I wanted to document the life that my Grandfather has had while living on the island. I wanted to show my Grandparents the appreciation I have for the island and give thanks to them for allowing me to make memories in such a gorgeous place.
The final presentation of the images are shown in a hand made book. The cover and back of the book are made from bark taken off the island. Inside the book I have transferred the old images on velum and the newer images on matte paper. The images are then sandwiched together within the book to show the difference in land and also the difference of the things around our cabin.
I plan on giving this book to my Grandfather to thank him for the years and memories on the island. Even though the island has changed significantly over the years the images show how many of us have spent our lives inside that cabin, with him on the island, and all the places he introduced to us as young kids.
Thank you Papa for allowing me to witness beauty at its naturalist state, I am forever grateful.
